The fine print, explained
Factor rate vs. APR, in plain English
Banks quote interest, which accrues over time — pay early, pay less. An MCA quotes a factor rate: a flat multiplier, owed in full from day one.
$50,000 at a 1.35 factor = $67,500 owed, full stop — paying early doesn't shrink it, only the time does.
Repaid over five months of daily debits, that's triple digits in APR terms — a number no term sheet shows.
The five words on your contract
- Factor rate the multiplier, 1.2–1.49 typical.
- Payback funded × factor, fixed at signing.
- Holdback/ACH a % or fixed amount, pulled automatically.
- APR annualized cost, for comparing to loans.
About the APR figure
An estimate, not a lender disclosure or legal APR figure. Disclosures.
